The geothermal water originates 2,000 metres below the surface, where freshwater and seawater combine at extreme temperatures. It is then harnessed via drilling holes at a nearby geothermal power plant, Svartsengi, to create electricity and hot water for nearby communities.

The Secret Lagoon consists of natural hot springs which have been kept natural and unique so guests can get the true Icelandic feeling. The natural surroundings of the pool and the steam rising into the air gives the place a magical feeling. The warm water holds 38–40 degrees Celsius (100–104 Fahrenheit) all year. In the area, there are several geothermal spots and a little geyser which erupts every five minutes, showing off for the guests relaxing in the hot spring.

This tour starts in Reykjavik Center at the Volcano House. Exhibit to set the mood and prepare our small group for the adventure. Your guide will then meet you at the Volcano House at 2 pm for a 4 hour, touch and feel experience in the Volcanic Reykjanes Geo-park.
